Data sources that unintelligently “dump data” or that do not support a store and forward mechanism represent an unacceptable exposure to organizations that are dependent upon the integrity of their data. For instance, it is not acceptable to “lose” billing data from a data source that does not provide persistent storage. And data sources that are connected via “long lines” or wide area connections are particularly vulnerable.

The Critical Data Store (CDS) device from Newmetrics provides for data connectivity and persistent data storage – even in the face of total network failures. The units can be implemented in a fully redundant configuration and are “hot-swappable”. Vital data is recorded on ring buffers that can maintain data for up to 90 days with ZERO data loss.

The Critical Data Store is a rack mounted PC unit containing a 5 slot standard PCI backplane. A self-aligning “Quick Disconnect” feature allows the unit to be inserted or removed cable free. CDS enclosures are NEBS compliant and are intended to be co-located with the data source to improve reliability of transmission.

Data Quality Assurance – Data Profiling

Data Profiling is a powerful feature that can help reduce the overall cost of data and application integration. By reporting statistical data such as counts, success rates, rows passed, rows failed, etc., users can improve data quality and ensure plug and play success. Data profiling supports:

The profiling process is a simple process that improves productivity for data analysis. It includes native connectivity to numerous data source types, virtually eliminating SQL query/manual inspections.
